There are number of issues which are making your computer to restart without a warning. Follow the steps given to troubleshoot the cause for your unexpected computer restarts.
Steps to troubleshoot
High CPU Temperature is one of the main cause for the automatic shut down of computer. Check the temperature of your CPU and do the necessary steps to bring the temperature down.
The Power Supply unit also may be the cause for the sudden or random restarts of your computer. A Failing Power Supply may not provide the required voltage to the peripherals during the load time.
Check the Power Supply unit with a Multi-meter to make sure that it is delivering the required voltage during load.
3. Check for any Software issues
Sometimes, errors generated by the Software also causes your computer to restart without a Warning. Windows will restart automatically, if it encounters BSOD(Blue Screen Of Death), error which cannot be resolved without restarting your computer.
But sometimes, we need to know the error which is causing the system to restart automatically. The Automatic restart on BSOD should be disabled so that the error which causes restart can be noted.
Steps to disable Automatic Restart
- From the desktop right-click on My Computer.
- Click the Properties option.
- Click on the Advanced System Settings.
- In Advanced tab, click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery.
- In the Startup and Recovery window, uncheck the Automatically restart check box.
- Click Ok.
Next time when your computer restarts on BSOD, instead of automatic restart, it will display the error which causes the restart. Note down the error and google how to fix it or send the error message to me, through Contact Us form and I ll be happy to provide a solution for the error.
4. Check for Hardware issues
Often, hardware devices that were not properly installed, also can cause your computer restart randomly. Make sure that you don’t have any driver conflict/issues by checking in device manager.
Also, if you are experiencing this random reboot after installing a new piece of hardware, may be you are experiencing driver issue, which is preventing you from normal restart. You might need to use update version or older version(if no updated version of driver is not available) of the drivers for that hardware. All the hardware drivers can be found in their respective manufacturers website.
Start_Your_Computer_In_Safe_Mode, and uninstall the drivers you have currently installed in your computer and install the older version of the drivers.
5. Check for Viruses or any Malwares
Certain Viruses are coded in a way to randomly restart your computer without any warnings. Make sure that your system does not contain any viruses, by thoroughly scanning your system with Anti Virus Software. Make sure to Update_Anti_virus before running any scans.
